mother's day + weekend.

Happy Mother's Day to my amazingly beautiful, fun, silly, wonderful mom. I love you so much and I'm so glad that God chose you to be my mom when I was five years old. You're a huge blessing to me, and our family!

We had a pretty restful weekend and I'm glad we are able to just be home and enjoy the beautiful {albeit hot} May weather.

Friday night, we ran some errands and came home and watched the Dallas Mavs beat the Lakers (again!). So exciting!
Saturday, we went to Rusty Taco (one of our favorite "quick" restaurants in Dallas) and laid out at our little area's country club pool. It was so relaxing to just rest, read and relax.

Afterward, I realized it was Kentucky Derby day (because Brandon refused to watch anything else on TV!), so I made mint juleps in honor of the day. :)

After a nap on the couch, I woke up and realized that my legs? Looked like lobsters. And that's with sunscreen and only being out for two hours.

Note to self: I need higher than an SPF 30 on my body.

{I did, however, buy zinc oxide--SPF 70-- and used it on my face, ears, neck, shoulders and lips and that stuff is a-mazing. Pretty sure I'll be using that all over my body from now on because my legs hurt today.}

In the middle of me lathering aloe vera on my legs, downing ibuprofen for the burns and being exhausted from the sun, Brandon tells me that one of his friends (who was an usher in our wedding) was in from Washington, D.C. Brandon, our friend, is in the Army and so we don't get to see him hardly ever, so we invited him over for a bit.

Well, a "bit" turned into nearly 2 a.m. and I am exhausted! It was good to see him and meet his girlfriend, but y'all, I am not as young as I used to be! I need my sleep! I kept thinking, "How on earth did I go out every night of the weekend in college?!"

I hope you're all having a wonderful Mother's Day, and I want to wish all of you mom's reading this a Happy Mother's Day, too!
