it's the little things.

Last night as hubs and I were on a walk, I realized how beautiful the "little things" were. Just being outside, enjoying the beautiful weather with my best friend on a Monday night really put it into perspective for me.

As we were walking hand-in-hand around the two-mile trek around our apartment, we stopped on a bench near the end of our walk to enjoy the sunset. "When was the last time we stopped to actually enjoy the majesty of a sunset?" I asked him. Sitting in silence for the first time in one in a half miles to enjoy something as simple (and majestic) as a sunset was bliss. We watched a family of three flying a Barbie kite. "Look Daddy!" the little girl screamed. We looked at each other and smiled. We saw two young men Army-crawl across a field with their intense personal trainer. People walked dogs, ran to music on their iPods, and some, just like us, were walking hand-in-hand and just talking. I loved it.

Carrying on to the small things I'm enjoying today:

Waking up at 6:45 a.m. to see my husband working out to his "Insanity" workout video in the middle of the living room floor. More power to ya, buddy!

Really, really enjoying my morning cup of coffee in the cute mug my family brought me back from New Mexico a few years ago.

I'm not kidding when I say that our little family of two are coffee freaks. Our favorite right now? Dunkin' Donuts Hazlenut. With hazlenut coffee creamer.
In fact, when I took that first sip this morning, I yelled at hubs across the apartment, "This is a freaking GOOD cup of coffee!!!"

The sun peeking through the blinds. (And on that note, the gorgeous weather we've been having.)

Something about seeing this just lets me know it's going to be a good day.

The fun detail on my $11 Target top thankyouverymuch. (Side note: I'm not quite sure why my hair looks blond in this picture. Oh well.)

Other little things I'm enjoying today?

Finding a CD in my car titled "Spring Break '08." Yup. I jammed to the likes of Sheryl Crow's "Love is Free," Luke Bryan's "Good Directions," and even Wyclef's "Sweetest Girl (Dollar Bill)" on the way to work today. Did I mind traffic? Not one bit.

The fact that both hubs and I are taking Friday off for my birthday...and that I'm really looking forward to it. Bring on sleeping in, brunch and relaxing while the rest of the world is at work.

The cute Fleur di Lis note cards I picked up at Tuesday Morning. No, I wasn't a Kappa (I was a Zeta), but I am just loving their deep blue background and gold Fleur di Lis! I am just looking for an excuse to send a note to someone.

Happy Tuesday!
